Art Exhibition: Solo Show & Charity Event – illustrative works by Cindy Thornton

The astronauts have landed back in the USA!  My space travelers along with a handful of other works that have been touring abroad will be on display in Beverly Hills this spring at GP Deva X-Power Gallery.  The opening event will be held on March 24th, 2019 from 2PM – 5PM and I will be there.  This is a charity event presented by the LA Arts Alliance & GP Deva and proceeds raised at the event will support art programs at John Liechty Middle School.  Tickets are $40 and will include 2 raffle entries.  I will also be gifting my limited edition ‘Love Bot’ metal pins at the door (1 per ticket to the first 60 people)….I wish I could bring more, but that is all I have left!  Time to make a new LE pin for 2019 I guess.  This show will be on display from March 24th  – May 31st, 2019.  I will be posting updates on the event posted in facebook, if you would like to follow then click the pic above and mark yourself “interested” 🙂 If you are in or around the area, I hope to see you there! -Cindy

Art on Google Maps

My 2 month show in Atlanta ended this week.  The gallery sent me a message a couple of days ago to let me know that Google Maps had been through there and did a photo tour of the building (like street maps, but inside).  So, if you look up Art Station you can now walk through the building and my art is forever on display on Google Maps.  When you “enter the building” Google puts you in the upstairs gallery, all my stuff was on display on the main level downstairs, so you have to “walk” to find it.  Below are a few screen shots from the tour.  Cool right?  right!

April News: Acworth . Upcoming Shows . New Art

Acworth
I’m back from the Acworth Art Fest.  The weather was beautiful and the streets were crowded.  Acworth was my 3rd art fest, and so far all shows I have done have been blue skies.  Keeping my fingers crossed for my last show this spring….Dunwoody!  So on my drive up to Acworth, I got my camera ready as we passed through Atlanta….I knew my art was going to be on a billboard, and I was told it would be on I75 on the right side of the road.  Sure enough!  We passed by it right before sundown so there was still enough light for a non-blurry picture.  (don’t worry, I was not driving).

Here is my booth just before opening the first day.  We started to set things up at about 5:30AM, and were done in the 9:00 hour.  For the next show (Dunwoody), I’m adding a back wall to hang large scale paintings, so more art to pick from!

Upcoming Shows:
– Dunwoody Art Festival, Dunwoody GA:  May 12-13, 2012 (general info and directions)
– The Art Station – Solo Show, Stone Mountain, GA:  June 2 – Aug 18, 2012 (directions)

Venue: The Art Station is located in the restored Trolly Barn in historic Stone Mountain Village

New Art
I know, I know….I have not had any originals available online since last Christmas.  I’m so sorry about this, but my schedule and deadlines for the past several months have just not allowed for it.  So just a heads up, I will be pulling a few pieces early (before the Dunwoody show) and posting them online.  Not many, but there will be a few.  Late May will be when I get the chance to sit down and start itemizing what is available, get photos up, and start posting everything in the shop.  Subscribers here will get updates as soon as they go live.  Thank you all for your patience!

Art Revolution Taipei 2012

I’ve been offline for the past couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean the painting has stopped.  In fact I am starting to get overwhelmed with how many finished, in progress, and blank canvases that are sitting all around me right now.  I’m not used to this, but soon things will start to move.  Allow me to explain one of the projects I have coming up!

I have been invited to participate in Art Revolution Taipei for 2012 (March 22-25).  So excited about it, and this is what has been taking up most of my time lately.  A new series is also in the works, and the first 10 will be heading over to Taiwan to make their debut.  This particular series includes a girl in each piece, and I love love love how they have been turning out.  Some of these will be made into limited edition signed prints so watch facebook for release dates.  Sneak peek close-up of one of them for my blog followers 🙂

In addition to the above mentioned series, I will also be sending 5 of my starry sky paintings (or as some like to call, the swirly skies).  These have already been completed, so be looking for feature pics to show up on facebook soon.

Here are a few pictures from A.R.T. 2011.  According to their website, last year featured 1200 artworks by 203 artists from 22 countries.  The number of visitors to the show reached upward 26,681 people according to the records at Taiwan World Trade Center where A.R.T. was held.

And finally, the pieces I am sending will also be featured at the sponsoring gallery who invited me at X-Power Gallery in Taipei.  (photo below courtesy of the gallery).  Once all these pieces are finished and shipped, I’ll tell you all about a solo show I have coming up next summer here in the states!  Have a great weekend… -Cindy

Art Revolution Taipei 2012 (A.R.T. 2012) features leading and emerging galleries and artists around the globe. Hundreds of artists, ranging from the established to the latest generation of emerging figures will be represented in the show’s multiple sections. In May, more than 26 thousand art lovers visited and enjoyed A.R.T. 2011.
The exhibition will include time-tested and cutting-edge paintings, sculptures, drawings, installation, photographs, and prints. Art Revolution Taipei 2012 is expected to be crowded with all types of people including art collectors, art dealers, artists, curators and other art enthusiasts. An even more important spot is that the organizer will invite hundreds of highly renowned and influential collectors to attend, which would certainly guarantee to bring great attention to the participating artists and their works.”

Dunwoody Art Fest

We had wonderful weather this past Mother’s Day weekend.  Sold lots at the Dunwoody Art Fest.  For those who have been waiting for new originals to be posted in the etsy shop, you will be happy to know that some new works will be posted in my etsy shop soon.  I have some new works along with some of the original illustrations from the book I recently finished.  The book illustrations were all done on stretched canvas just like my other paintings.  I will be posting the new works within the next couple of days and throughout the month of May.  Anyone who purchases an original illustration from my children’s book “House”, will receive a free hardcover copy of the book.  Yay right?

Here is a shot of me in my booth right before the show opening, some table pictures, and a view from my booth.  13 of the paintings have sold, but don’t worry – I have a bunch more to post here online 🙂
